Fellow Queens!

Someone please explain to me why it cost me $41 to take my kids to the dollar movie.

Now I admit it. I do sneak candy into the movies. I think I do this because I went to see a movie at the artsy fartsy theater. After checking to see if they had the delightful frozen treat at their concession stand that I enjoyed last time (alas, no) I fed my ice cream addiction with a large gelato from the shop next to the theater. When I went back into the movies I was stopped by the gate keeper who said, “No outside food. We feel pretty strongly about that rule.” He was really nasty about it and I got brain freeze while snarfing my gelato in front of him.

Eager to challenge authority I now make a pit stop with the princes at Dollar Tree before the movies. We load up on Nerds, Tootsie Rolls and a Diet Coke for mommy. I always bring the big purse so we can stuff all our contraband in it.

So yesterday we went to the movies. A movie theater that I am hesitant to mention because I don’t want them to start rifling through my purse.

So where did the $41 dollars come in? $9 at the aforementioned Dollar Tree. $7 admission, don’t ask me, I guess Prince Tim, Prince Matthew and I were considered grownups.

Here is where karma intervened- my two oldest eating machines, ordered a $13 appetizer consisting of BBQ ribs, fries and potato skins. Then drinks at $3 a pop. With my generous tip we are at $25 smackaroos.

Karma then got me again. After taking a swig out of my soda my middle prince stashed it in my purse but he didn’t quite get the cap on right. You guessed it. A full soda now sloshing around in the bottom of the only real designer item I have ever had. (Trust me, I inherited it) It is now an original Kate Spade Slushie.

You would imagine that I would change my sneaky ways after this experience, but I doubt it. Happy Feet is showing next week and I am already craving my Junior Mints.
