Fellow Queens! Last week I unveiled The Tao of Duh

I reported on my boy's errs of the evident. Which is what the word 'duh' means. If you check out Urban Dictionaryone of my favorite sites to help you decode the language of teens, the word duh means 'A word people use when the obvious is stated.'

Let us use it in a sentence shall we? Me - "I love you Prince Christopher." Him - "Duh Mom."

Aside from the many e-mails saying ‘Amen sistah girl’ and the like, one mom thought I meant some sort of Tao of Dumb.

“As a mother of three boys, I have learned that there's a lot of people who stereotype boys as rough, dirty, unkind and many of the things you insinuate on your story today (I guess dumb) Well, I'm not about to condone it. I am the one that is always standing up for my boys and not letting anyone put them down! People are always saying what a handful it must be for me but guess what, I have three beautiful, loving, caring sweet little men and I would not have it any other way. I don't think making fun of them is the answer or makes anyone feel supported with raising boys.”

Oh SNAP!

I just love heady conversation involving stereotypes, boys, perception and humor. And anytime the word ‘condone’ pops up, well, all the better. At times my Princes are oblivious of the obvious and I contend that the only way to deal with it (and all the other stuff they throw at me) is by engaging my particularly warped sense of humor.

So weigh in on this one, you know you want to.

The boy story of the week comes from Queen Jill.

“Here is something for your Tao of Duh.

My son 3 yr. old, Jack Henry, got into our car after playing at a park. "Why are you so sad?" I asked him. "Those kids at the park were chasing me" was his reply. "Jack," I said, "that's what happens when you play TAG!"

Duh!”

Reign On!
