TOMORROW IS MOTHER'S DAY!!

Loyal Subjects,

Let it be known throughout the land that tomorrow, Sunday May 10, is the High Holy Day of Mother’s Day. When? Tomorrow. Got it? Its tomorrow. Oh just one more time. TOMORROW! SUNDAY! MAY 10! Approximately 9 hours, 35 minutes and 43 seconds from now.

Now most of you reading this are grownups so I don’t need to tell you what to do with your own mom. That’s your problem. But if you are a gentleman who has children you need to step up and teach the kiddos the proper way to celebrate their Queen. Therefore may I suggest a few ways to properly honor the woman who endured 31 hours of labor just to bring your offspring into this world.

Gifts are an appreciated and acceptable expression of love. However, moms do frown upon gifts that appear to have been purchased late Saturday night at 7/11. A can of Red Bull and a lighter may suffice for other gift giving occasions, but not this one. Any gift placed in a box with air holes is a no go. And don’t try to take the easy way out and get us some smelly gift basket with soap bombs and lotions we will never use. Trust us, the cabinet under our bathroom sink has tons of the stuff in it. We don’t need more. Although if we do have a favorite perfume, one that we truly love and wear daily, then knock yourself out.

On the perfectly lovely yet inexpensive end of the spectrum we have homemade cards. The kind that some thought goes into. Perhaps an indepth list of why mom is so special. We don’t want Hallmark to say it, we want you to say it kid. A framed photograph of the family is always nice. Clean the house, ceiling fan blades included. Make dinner, something a little more elabrate than Spaghetti-Os. Or how about a Day Without Whining? I always ask for that. Haven’t gotten it yet.

But when all is said and done, a kiss and a hug from our beautiful children is all we moms ever really need.

And don’t forget dads, Father’s Day comes after Mother’s Day. Come up short tomorrow and you can kiss that Home Depot gift card goodbye.
